Gorgeous 19th Century French Cut Steel Micro Beaded Evening Purse
The flap over top has a discrete loop button closure and the crocheted fringe is thick, long and lustrous. The bag has a back bone to keep it hanging straight and a ribbon style carrying strap of the same beading. The strap measures 14" x .50" and rises 7" from the top of the bag.
The bag itself measures 6.5" wide x 8" to the bottom of the beautiful fringe.
The lining is off white silk satin and pristine with 1 pocket for a mirror.
CONDITION: In overall excellent antique condition with no losses to note. The beads retains their full brilliance with absolutely no fading of coloration. (The French steel beading is known for its resiliency, unlike the American steel beads which fade in color as well as losing their lustre) This purse was acquired from a private collector and the pristine lining is very likely a modern replacement. Circa mid 19th Century, France.

If you like this purse in the photographs --- you will love it when you see it. Not photogenic, I can't seem to capture the gorgeous Red - or the brilliant sheen of this bag. It's truly outstanding! A beautiful addition to any purse collection - and certainly sturdy enough to be carried.
