An incredibly luxurious late 1940's Borsalino Alessandria `Qualita Extra Superiore' Brown Velour Felt Fedora Hat. The dark brown velour felt of this hat is incredibly lush and silky-soft with a very pliable feel, so much so you can almost get any shape you desire out of it.
Tagged a size 6 7/8 with the head opening measuring 7.5" front to back and 6.25" side to side. The brim is a striking 3" inches wide and there is a 2" dark brown grosgrain ribbon.
It's marked Borsalino, Made in Italy, Original House Founded in 1857, Grand Prize Paris 1900, "Visone" and there is a Marshall Field & Company store label embossed on the head band as well.
Condition is EX- used vintage but it would be NM- if not for the single problem it has which is a small moth nibble on the top side of the rear brim. I show this nibble in the last pic and it only affects the nap of the velour.
Otherwise it is in pristine condition with no signs of use wear or other damage. The fine white silk lining is immaculate-- bright and fresh with no stains, holes or marks. The leather head band is super soft and supple with no stains or cracks. Looks like a hat worn once or twice at the most and then put away very safely all of these years.
