What a rare find! This child's early wooden mechanical toy washing machine is in remarkable condition. The wooden barrel measures 8.75" in diameter and measures 4.75" tall. The barrel has a hinged lid with a cast iron handle and mechanism which operates the interior spinner which consists of 4 wooden dowels that agitates the water and clothes. The agitator is in excellent working condition. There is a hook and eye which secures the lid. Notice the original metal bands which hold the barrel staves together. The machine rests on its original wooden dowels for legs which are attached with its original iron supports. The toy retains its original finish which shows expected wear. It has a wonderful patina and rich color. What a great surviving example of a circa 1900 child's mechanical toy. 11.25"h X 10"w X 10"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1880's.
