This walnut Victorian half-moon shaped table is actually a folding game table. The moulded edge top lifts up to reveal an inset leather surface. There is a center back leg that pulls out to support the other half of the top. There is a small storage compartment that is revealed when the center leg is pulled out. This was designed to also hold playing cards, etc. Look closely and you will see that the bottom of that drawer has been expertly replaced. The table is extremely sturdy when the top is fully opened. The table skirt has applied panels of burled walnut. The top rests on handsomely turned, fluted and carved trumpet shaped legs ending in their original wooden and brass casters. The finish is in excellent condition having a deep, rich color and patina. 31"h X 36"w X 18"-36"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1870's.
