Victorian Shelf Clock by Gilbert
This lovely walnut Victorian shelf or mantle clock was made by the Gilbert Clock Co, Winsted, Conn. The case is in excellent condition having a rich color and patina. Notice the central crest with the small turned finial and carving of Jenny Lind, also called Lady Liberty. The arched top ends in delicately turned, long drops resting on a carved plinth base. The arched door has its original fancy stenciled glass panel. Look closely and you will see some of the stenciling is worn off on the right side. The clock retains its original face and fancy brass pendulum. The works are original and in excellent running condition, striking every hour and half hour. The clock has a winding key and requires winding once a week. 22.25"h X 14.25"w X 4.5"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1870's.
