Here we have, a nice, early oil lamp. With the design and materials I figure it is from the late 1800's to early 1900's. There is no markings on the piece to ID it, but for the mark on the wick knob, which says, The Solar Co. No other marks found. It is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The very bottom of the base is cast iron, with the cap above the base being brass, and the top and wick are brass. You can see the brass showing on a couple of photo. I was cleaning it and the brass started to come through, so I quite cleaning. The scene on the oil bowl is of a house on a hill, with trees, and it goes around the whole piece. The piece has two embossed leaf patterns, one on each side. Wick still turns freely. There was no chimney or globe with the piece, and I believe there was a piece that held the globe, which is missing also. It measures 10" high, 6 3/8" wide, and has a 6" square, cast iron foot. Great piece for a lamp collection!
