Sally Avery Michel Watercolor Painting “Bathers” 1987

This colorful modernist watercolor titled "Bathers" was painted by American artist Sally Avery Michel (also known as Sally Michel Avery 1902-2003). She grew up and was educated in New York, eventually marrying impressionist artist Milton Avery. Exhibiting at the Childs Gallery in Boston, she became known for her modernist style paintings and also illustrated for the New York Times. Watercolor on paper, signed and dated lower right, matted and framed under glass in a gold frame. A Childs Gallery label is attached on the verso. Dimensions: 11 3/8" h x 15 ½" w, sight; 24 ½" h x 30 ½" w, framed.
