19th C. Quervelle Empire Side Chair
Empire side chair in mahogany attributed to Anthony Quervelle, Philadelphia, circa 1840. Superb carving of dolphins and claw feet. Nicely appointed. An example of this chair is pictured and discussed on page 306 of "Centuries and Styles of The American Chair 1640-1970" by Robert Bishop. In very good overall condition with minor wear consistent with age and use. Dimensions: 34.25"H x 21.25"W x 22.5". Seat height is 19".
