Three Composition Stone Sculptures From Excelsior Regina Palace
The Hotel Regina was built in between 1895 and 1897 as a hotel for royalty and aristocracy visiting Nice in the late 19th century. Presently, the Excelsior Regina Palace are beautiful apartments.
These three sculptures were removed along with thirteen lions in February 2011 from an area of the hotel that was being remodeled. Of interesting note, French artist Henri Matisse lived in one of the Royal Suites at the Hotel Regina. These have been mounted on beautiful marble plinths. In very good overall restored condition with expected condition issues due to their age and being exposed to elements. They have been professionally conserved which includes some re-painting to give more of an evenness in appearance. Approximate dimensions of each sculpture are 23"H x 16"W x 12"D.
