This winter tonalist landscape oil painting was painted by American artist Gilbert Riswold (1911-2001). Riswold was born and spent most of his life in Lincoln, Maine, and was the son of sculptor Gilbert P. Riswold. Following in his father's footsteps, Riswold became well-known as an illustrator. Oil on canvas, signed lower right "Riswold", and housed in a black and gold painted wooden frame. Dimensions: 16" h x 24" w, actual; 22 ¾" h x 30" w, framed. This painting is accompanied with an award received in 1953.
