Dating to c.1880, this is one beautiful and highly unusual pair of Victorian earrings comes just in time for your Spring wardrobe!
These stunning earrings combine the best of gemstone and cameo elements, and the result is smashing! These earrings feature hand-cut oval paste gemstones in a rarely-seen shade of soft peach, and are mounted with detailed left- and right-facing white glass cameos in classic gold filled frames surrounded by fine wire work and topped with acanthus leaves! When these earrings came in, they were missing their original gold-filled wires, so I have replaced them with 14k gold lever backs which make them even more wearable and desirable!
Measuring 1 3/4" long x 1/2" wide, these jewels are the perfect size for day or evening wear. The cameos depict a right-facing image of a lady with long ringlets and a left-facing lady with upswept hair wearing a pearl necklace; the two cameos frame the face beautifully. Both cameos are subtly different, and have lovely detail for their size. They are in excellent condition; one has a bit of crazing only visible under 10x magnification (see 3rd photo), but this is not visible to the naked eye, and is considered perfectly acceptable in earrings that are 130 years old. The faceted pastes are near mint, and are such a pretty color!
Weighing in at 8.2 grams, these earrings really light up on the ear! They have just the right combination of color, scale and movement; my photos do not do them justice! If you collect the best in Victorian or antique cameo jewelry, these earrings will become a treasured addition to your collection. Do not miss these Victorian charmers; they are a rare pair priced for quick sale, and USPS Priority shipping is FREE!
