This Terracotta Sculpture of a man in Renaissance dress, rides a bucking Horse bareback, alongside another running horse. There is great sense of movement and clean lines in this multiple figure sculpture.
The size is approx. 14"in length x 8.5"wide x 11.25"tall, hand sculpted in 1943 by: "Helmut Collman" (signed on the bottom..see photo)possibly a study for a later casting in bronze??
The artist was German (1918-1996) and I have found listings for paintings by him, but no other sculpture has appeared.
A wonderful sculpture in a nice size...it is in excellent condition and original finish, with just a few minor flakes at the very bottom edge.
This figure would look fantastic in a Mid Century Moderne setting,an Art Deco home, and even in your "Eclectic" decor....!! A good original sculpture for a reasonable price...
