We are offering an early woodworker's router plane that is hand made from a beefy chunk of figured quartersawn oak. The grain flecks associated with the wood that was used for this piece are stunning as they display proudly on both the top and the bottom of the piece. It measures 7 1/4 inches long by 4 3/4 inches wide. It stands 1 3/4 inches tall with the blade iron adding approximately 3 3/4 additional inches. There are some early worm holes in the wood, but it is clear that the inhabitants left many years ago. A previous owner has applied a thin layer of finish to the piece to clean it up removing shop grunge and protecting it for the generations to come. As a result the grain pops. There are two identifying signatures on the plane. They are "J. Delany" and "J.Z.M.". We have not been able to locate any information about either individual with relevance to tools. Most likely their history is now lost. One thing that cabinet makers love is early hand-tools. Whether they are usable or not, is not an issue. The beauty of old tools makes them valuable collectibles. This is a wonderful item that will be a proud display piece for any collector of early tools.
