39% Off/Free Shipping!! Classic Hand Painted Grapevine Mug / Stein, Signed Myrle Honnold, 1910
Sweetpea Cottage has obtained a wonderful looking porcelain mug that was hand painted in 1910 by Myrle Honnold. This beautiful item is in wonderful condition with no chips, scratches, or any damage of any kind. Even the inside is pristine, a rarity with mugs that were often used to hold flowers. It stands 7 inches tall, is approximately 6 inches across including the handle, and the base is 4 inches in diameter. We have been unable to locate any good information about Myrle Honnold, but we do know that she was a skilled artist. The sense of proportion, color, and execution indicate that this is somebody who is quite comfortable with a paint brush. There are heavy bands of gilt running around the piece and the handle is completely painted gold. The colors are striking, including bluish-purple grapes, lime-green leaves and matte blue-green bands on the top and bottom. Besides the artist's name on the side there is an additional name and date on the bottom saying Gale H. Fisher June 17,1910. This was most likely a presentation piece to Gale H. Fisher. We have tried to obtain information about this individual, but again there is very little information. This is a wonderful decorator piece that will be a terrific accent item in your decor.
