Sweetpea Cottage is proud to offer this wonderful piece from the Art Nouveau period. Made of solid metal, it functions as a match holder and cigarette holder. However, it would display just as well on its own with no use other than for artistic merit. The cigarette holder is a woman's head with long flowing locks of hair. The match holder is a pipe. Both are anchored on a shallow tray that has an Oriental motif with two women wearing flowing gowns. We believe it is made from white metal, or spelter, that has been carefully bronzed with an artificial patina added on the top to create an elegant look. The condition is quite good with some minor oxidation on the patina and a few small spots of abrasions. A signature is cast into the piece with Oriental characters. Consequently, we are unable to decipher the maker. It is approximately 10 ½ inches long, about 3 inches wide, and about 2 ½ inches tall. If you collect Art Nouveau, tobacciana, or simply like tabletop display pieces, then you will find this wonderful item to be highly satisfactory.
