Price Break! Antique Victorian Hand Painted Papier Mache & Wood Horse Pull Toy

Here is a delightful little pull toy from the Victorian era. Although not labeled as such, these items were all made in Germany during the late 1800's. The horse is made from papier mache and wood that has been hand painted and it sits on a wheeled cart. It measures 7 1/4" tall by 6 ½" long by 2". Considering its delicate nature it is amazing that it has survived this long. It has a fur mane and tail that appear to be original. The ears are missing. The condition reflects a very delicate item and shows some cracks, dings and chips. Still, it is a wonderful display piece that would look great with a doll collection or sitting in a Christmas display. The name "Edna" has been written on the underside of the wheeled base. Apparently Edna knew how to take care of her toys without ruining them! There is a very thin layer of old shellac that covers the horse. This is a great early child's toy that is a special treat to look at and own.
