Sweetpea Cottage is selling a Navajo Rug that is dating to the 1930's. Most likely this was for sale to the tourists as they disembarked the trains in New Mexico. The colors are black, white, gray, golden-brown, and dominant in red with a cream field. The primary design consists of a boxed step diamond pattern with a dazzler diamond lozenge in the center. Overall, this rug is in good shape. The dimensions are about 37 inches by 46 inches, although there is some minor variation as the edges are not perfectly straight. It is very heavy and tightly woven. There are the common color variations throughout the rug that are a result of the blending of different wools, along with the usual lazy lines. There are no signs that this was ever a floor rug. There is no indication of any thinning as would be expected from floor wear. The overall condition is excellent with the exception of some very minor spots and pulls. We have never cleaned it and do not feel that it needs cleaning. The corners have the usually loss of tassels along with some minor losses along the edges.
With its very bold and simple design, this is a very nice looking rug that displays well on the wall or draped over a railing or piece of furniture. We would hesitate to put it on a floor because of its fine condition. Recognizing that people feel that buying an early rug over the internet can be risky, we believe that the description is as accurate as possible. If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to send email. Also, as is always true of purchases from Sweetpea Cottage, YOUR SATISFACTION IS GUARANTEED. We are the primary Navajo Rug dealer on Ruby Lane and if you wish to return the rug for any reason, that will be fine. Within three days of receiving the rug, simply notify us by email that you wish to return it. Once we receive it in original condition in a timely fashion, then we will refund the full purchase price of the rug minus shipping charges. Domestic shipping is $30 for this item.
