Victorian Era Lapland Shoe Pin Cushion, Ca. 1890's

For you collectors of sewing memorabilia, Sweetpea Cottage is offering a wonderful and unusual little gem. This little pin cushion is shaped like a boot worn by the Laplanders of Norway. We cannot determine if it was made in Norway. The actual boot is made out of leather that shows fine detail. The top of the instep is assembled from many tiny strips of leather that are all woven together. The bottom of the shoe is a single piece of leather that has been attached to the rest of the shoe with fine braiding. Coming out of the top of the shoe there is a multicolored fabric-braided anklet. The actual pin cushion on top appears to be original, but we cannot guarantee that it is. The dimensions are approximately 3 1/4 inches long by 2 1/4 inches tall by 1 3/4 inches wide. The condition is good with wear that is consistent with age and use. A small section of the leather in the toe region was slightly torn at one time but is still intact and sound. There is the usual minor soiling from dust that would accumulate over the years. We are certain that you will not be disappointed with this purchase as it is probably like no other that you have in your collection and it has withstood the test of time quite nicely.

As a gift for the collector in your family or for your own enjoyment, this is a great little item that you will be pleased to show off. It will definitely enhance your pincushion collection.
