Here is wonderful Black Forest carving to add to your collection of inkwells. Dating from approximately 1900, the piece represents a woven straw Tyrolean hat with a carved leather band and feather. It stands a total of 3 ½ inches tall and is roughly 6 inches around at the base. It is beautifully carved and is in excellent condition with a good even rich walnut stain and a nice sheen. The crown of the hat lifts up to reveal a glass inkwell. The inkwell appears to be original to the piece and is filled with dried ink. We have chosen to not clean it out. The condition is outstanding. One would expect chips or cracks, but none appear on this piece. It is a wonderful fresh item that will become the highlight of your collection. It displays beautifully.
