This could possibly be one of the finest Black Forest style carvings that you will ever be able to obtain. Dating from approximately 1900, this beveled hand mirror is ringed with a daisy floral motif that extends down into the handle. It was intended to be a souvenir piece with the name "Appenzell" neatly carved into a band that extends around the handle. It is a maximum of 13 ½ inches long and 8 1/4 inches wide. The depth and detail of the carving is some of the finest that we have ever seen. This was done by a true artisan carver. The beveled mirror is original to the piece. The condition is superb. There are no chips or cracks anywhere. How such a delicately carved item has managed to survive this long with no damage is hard to understand! It is a wonderful fresh item that will become the highlight of your collection. It displays beautifully and would be wonderful in your boudoir.
