This offering is for a wonderful utility tray, utensil tray, or knife tray that clearly has Adirondack origins. It measures 13 1/4 inches long, 9 3/4 inches wide, and 4 1/4 inches high. The handle sticks up above the tray adding an additional ½ inch. The tray is hand made and shows the skills of a good carpenter. The basic construction is done using pine with well mitered corners and a flush inserted bottom. Around the outside of the tray are alternating vertical semi-circular pieces of wood in both walnut and what appears to be maple. Around the top rim of the tray there is a striped molding that is, again, well mitered in the corners. The whole tray with the exception of the underside is finished with varnish that has darkened with age to add a nice patina to the piece. The condition is excellent with the normal signs of age that are associated with daily use. It is completely solid with no splits, popped nails, or broken joints. It would be great either as a display piece or as a useful item for storage of desk detritus. This is not just another utility tray. It is something both unique and special.
