Large Mission Style White Oak Dresser Box w/ Oak Leaf Carved Designs

Hand crafted in our own woodworking shop at Sweetpea Cottage, this white oak dresser box is a one-of-a-kind treat for someone special. Crafted like a piece of fine furniture, this is an elegantly styled box that is capped with a hand carved set of oak leaves and acorns on the top. Inside, the cover is decorated with a tree carved into a cherry blank. The inside bottom is covered with padded anti-tarnish, or pacific, cloth to keep your silver bright and shiny. The box has been entirely constructed with quartersawn white oak emphasizing the beautiful grain and color of the wood. The grain flecking shows off nicely against the dark mission oak stain. It has been styled like the dresser boxes, or jewelry boxes, that were commonly made during the Arts and Crafts movement. The mitered lid is designed to peak in the middle where the oak leaf carving is located. The wood has a rich chocolate color that will continue to enrich with age.

The box measures about 8 1/2 inches long and about 8 inches wide. The total height is 4 ½ inches, with the body of the box standing 3 5/8 inches tall. The wood has been treated with a Danish oil, then finished with several coats of a polyurethane/oil finish, and finally hand-rubbed with high quality wax.
