The divided grill plate is considered by many to be the most elusive and desirable piece of Wabash Railroad "Banner" china. We are extremely proud to be able to offer such a nice one!
This big plate is approximately 9-1/4 inches across. It is beautifully decorated with a Wabash "Follow the Flag" logo . The artwork is bright, crisp and clear and the colors are strong with no blurring or fading. The plate is correctly backmarked by its manufacturer Syracuse China. The date code CC-11 stands for November, 1948. This pattern was never bottom marked with any railroad markings.
CONDITION: Very nice with only LIGHT signs of use and NO cracks, chips, flakes, crazing, spider cracks or repairs. There are NO serious scratches and NO patches of glaze loss.
To nit-pick: This is hard to see unless you pick up the plate and look: The dividers do have some very light surface marks some of which are very pale yellowish (expected in virtually any used grill plates) and there are a few pale aging marks around the rim edges. These imperfections are not easy to see unless you pick up the plate and hold it within arm's length.
This eye-catching plate could be the star in a collection of Wabash passenger dining car items, and would also be fabulous in any grouping of better railway china pieces.
