Pennsylvania Railroad Purple Laurel Tall China Compote

On the underside of the base is an extensive, full railway bottom stamped marking including the PRR keystone logo: made by Shenango China, design copyrighted, furnished by supplier Albert Pick.

Size is approximately 6-5/8 inches across the top and 3-1/2 inches tall, perfect as a centerpiece on the table of a railroad passenger dining car.

PLEASE NOTE: This pattern is plagued with blurry designs and glaze runs -- but our compote is absolutely lovely with sharp, clear transfers and distinct geometric bands.

It does have an off-color tannish spot on the pedestal base which may be a stray spot of glaze color or it may possibly be a surface stain (we have NOT tried to remove it). Also, IMPORTANT -- the inside bottom of the bowl has a scattering of tiny grains in the glaze -- like sand -- please SEE OUR LAST PICTURE, they are hardly noticeable (cannot be seen beyond arm's length) but "they are there."

Overall a gorgeous example of a hard to find piece in this attractive pattern. It would make a terrific "single example" of Purple Laurel, if you limit your collection to only one.
