Early Steiff Tiny Bright-Eyed Mohair Elephant with Red Blanket

This terrific little elephant is the smallest size made by Steiff. It is only about 2 inches tall, and is complete with "ivory" tusks, attractive shading around its bright, beady eyes and gray felt bottoms on the feet.

CONDITION is extremely nice: Wonderfully clean, with original gray fuzzy mohair coat and "rope" tail. There are NO stains, holes, torn stitches or repairs. There is NO moth damage to the mohair or fabric. The red blanket is without rips or stains, but it does appear to be very slightly faded.

VERY IMPORTANT: We believe Little Elephant is Steiff number 6307.0 made between 1956 and 1958, but the Steiff button/tag have been removed and is missing! There is a hole in the left ear from where they were attached, but a previous owner removed the identification.

HOWEVER, WE GUARANTEE this is an absolutely authentic Steiff.

This miniature pachyderm even has the very slightly uneven legs as described by other Ruby Lane shop owners who have listed Steiff elephants with buttons and tags (please look at our pictures!!)

We also found documentation on Steiff identification internet pages.
