Two Nesting Birds on Covered Glass Dresser Dish by Louise Piper

A lovely covered dresser dish in custard glass with a nesting couple of bluebirds handpainted by Louise Piper of the Fenton Art Glass Company. Louise Piper is known for restarting the glass decorating department at Fenton back in the 1970's and her handpainted items are highly prized.

This covered dish has two bluebirds keeping watch over their nest of eggs on the cover. Her birds are a favorite of collectors. The artwork is fired on and will not wash off. The initials LP are at the lower right. The inside of the lid is signed 'Handpainted Louise Piper May 24 1981'. There is a Fenton sticker inside that is no longer stuck to the glass.

This dish is 4 1/4 inches wide and in very good condition. There are three shallow chips, which appear as shiny spots in the photos, on the top edge of the dish. When the lid is on these are not visible.
