Fenton Art Glass Plum Opalescent Iridized Happiness Bird

An iridized plum opalescent bird of happiness by the Fenton Art Glass Company for the National Fenton Glass Society, a collector club. This bird is the symbol of NFGS and their logo is in the shape of a happiness bird and etched on the underside of this piece.

Plum opalescent glass was discovered accidentally by Fenton when they were working with cranberry glass. It's the same formula, using real gold, but with a different reheating method. Most plum pieces were special orders like this one. It was Frank Fenton's favorite glass color.

This little guy is 5 1/2 inches tall and in excellent condition with no damage, defects or repairs.
