Don Fenton, the eldest son of Bill Fenton passed away unexpectedly in February of 2003. As a lasting tribute to him and to his personal style of the art glass he so deeply loved, Fenton created this Woodland'S Edge vase to his memory. Don loved the outdoors and would always request a "touch of life" ....the addition of a bird, butterfly or other critter, to almost every decoration Fenton developed. Don found these lively additions charming, which was so fitting of his personality.
Robin Spindler then designed this handsome pattern, which is accented with bands of 22k gold. This Don Fenton Memorial Vase is inscribed with the signatures of the current ten Fenton family members that were still around in 2003, and it bears the Centennial Collection Logo on the bottom also.
Favrene is a very special glass color made of cobalt blue with real silver in the formula. It must be reheated multiple times to bring out a silvery glow. It also gets sprayed with metallic salts and reheated to give it a slight iridescence. This Favrene piece was also etched so the silver creatures and foliage stand out against the deep blue.
This beautiful work of art is 9 inches tall and in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. It is a numbered piece - the number 96 is etched in the base.
