Beautiful carved Column from 18th C. Italy with winged Angel motif

A very decorative carved wooden Column for holding a vase, statue or bust, with carved and gilded motifs of a Winged Angel set in a central cartouche surrounded by floral decorations. The reverse side has the original painted vertical 'fluting'. The circular base plinth with a restored(re-carved) section of moulding on the reverse. In good condition with an amount of wear comensurate with its age. Italian c.1760-1790 41 inches tall x 16 diameter
