Extraordinary antique Belle Époque era French sterling silver and cut glass verre d'eau decanter set, water or liquor service. Comprising of two decanters or carafes, a drinking glass and a trefoil shaped tray. All beautifully decorated in a swirl of exquisite wheel cut flowers and sinuous vines. A deep 24-point wheel cut star-burst adorns the bases. Further enhanced by .950 sterling silver mounts and stoppers, embellished in a patterned frieze of flowers. Hallmarked to the silver stoppers and collars of the decanters as well as to the mounting on the drinking cup, of the French Minerve 1st standard mark, which depicts the goddess Minerva with a number 1 beside her indicating a silver content of .950/1000 silver, 95% pure silver and a higher grade than .925 sterling. Also bearing a silversmith's mark for Auguste Leroy, active from 1891-1912 at 22 rue Réaumur in Paris. The set is in very good condition with some general wear commensurate with age. There is a small bruise in to the edge of the larger decanter likely resulting from the making of the glass as it cannot be felt from the inside and is located on the exterior of the decanter between the silver collar.
Large decanter measures 8 5/8" tall.
Smaller decanter measures 6 1/2" tall.
Cup measures 3 1/4" tall x 2 3/8" diameter at the opening.
Tray measures 10 1/2" diameter.
