Exceptional pair of French .950 sterling silver & cut crystal decanters. The crystal body is of superb quality, thick and quite heavy, decorated with a deeply cut intaglio of lily of the valley bell-shaped florets and adorned further by striking wheel cut palmette panels along the sides. Simply gorgeous and a fine pair of decanters. The neck, base and stoppers are mounted in .950 silver, adorned in an egg and dart motif. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, depicting the goddess Minerva with a number 1 beside her to indicate a silver content of .950, which is higher than .925 sterling and 95% pure silver! Also bearing maker's marks for silversmith Edmond Molle, active from 1898-1919 at 114 rue du Temple. In wonderful condition. Measures 12" tall x about 4 1/8" at its widest.
