An antique Victorian mother of pearl inlaid tea caddy. Decorated throughout with mother of pearl tiles set in a harlequin design. The front face having an oval escutcheon lock plate. The hinged lid is trimmed by a canted edge and centered by a thick beveled glass panel. Opening to a mother of pearl tiled lid with carved knob, enclosing a foil lined interior to house tea. The caddy resting on four carved bun feet. Measures 4 1/2" length x 3" width x 3 1/2" tall. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age. Lacking a key to the lock. No major chips, no missing pearl tiles. To the back, there are two pearl tiles with a hairline crack, this is visible in the photo showing the back of the tea caddy. Also on the back are a couple of pearl tiles on the bottom left corner that are slightly duller in iridescence than the others, possibly later replacements. A crack to the left corner tile on the front, visible on in the photo. No chips or cracks to the thick beveled glass panel. The interior foil lining is mostly intact.
