WMF case decorated with figures in early 1900's sports attire playing ball outdoors. It is marked on the lower edge with a WMF beehive mark, the version with a clear top introduced in 1910 for the French market. WMF stands for WÜRTTEMBERGISCHE METALLWARENFABRIK, was founded in 1880 in Germany, and around 1900 produced a wide range of silver-plated articles, mostly in the Jugendstil ( Art Nouveau ) style. WMF's golden age was brief as it lost its export markets in 1914 with the start of World War I. Early WMF pieces are uncommon and highly sought after. In very good used condition with minor signs of wear as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
