Original etching of a troubadour playing a chord instrument, an early version of a guitar, under a tree. Troubadours were composers and entertainers often employed to entertain at court where they remained for a period of time before moving to a new location. It is signed on the plate A. Feyen Perrin, and printed below A. Feyen Perrin Sc. Francois Nicolas Augustin Feyen-Perrin (Bey-sur-Seille, 1826- Paris, 1888) was a 19th Century French painter and engraver. He exhibited in the Paris Salon throughout his career, was widely recognized in his lifetime and his works are part of the collection of major museums both in France and around the world. Etching comes finely matted in an oak frame with gilt highlights. In very good condition with minor imperfections to frame as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
