Beautiful antique French colorful needlepoint tapestry after the English hunt scene painting "Back from the Hunt" by Landseer. Sir Edwin Landseer (1802 – 1873) was one of the foremost animal painters of his time and well known for his portrayal of dogs, horses and stags. "Back from the hunt" shows a family group welcoming the father back home after the hunt while a falconer stands to the side with a falcon perched on his hand and several dogs lie and walk around the horses legs. Hand knotting is apparent under lining (see photos). Due to its very large size we will ship the tapestry unframed, as shown. We recommend that it is displayed in a frame once it reaches its final destination. In good used condition with small tears and imperfections, toning, stains and wrinkles to lining as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
