Turkoman Yomud Engsi Rug - c. 20th Century,Turkey

Beautiful Turkoman Yomud rug in vibrant colors with the compartmentalized design typical of Engsi pieces. Although very similar to a prayer rug, there is now consensus that the Turkmen Engsi is a door rug or curtain sometimes also used indoors as a votive. It is ready to display by passing a bar through the sewn cloth casing on the reverse upper border (see rug reverse on last photo). The fact that it has been used as a wall hanging, instead of as a floor rug to be stepped on, explains its very good condition. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.

Measurements: 4.9' by 3.75' (59" by 45" or 150 cm by 114 cm) approximately.
