This is a beautiful example of Italian Faience, complete with small applied flowers, and open lattice work on the sides. The two twisted handles on the sides add a nice touch.
I purchased this bowl from the estate of an elderly lady, whose grandmother traveled to Italy frequently in the early1900's. She had inherited it, along with 2 other pieces, which I shall post for sale next week.
It is in beautiful condition, with only some minor chipping to a few of the flower petals, and glaze chipping which is common in these faience pieces. There is also a 3 " hair line crack which begins and ends within the vessel, not extending to the edges. Probably a result of firing shrinkage when the piece was made. It is shown in picture #8
It measures 12.5" w x 9.5" D x 5" high
Item ID: 4916L
