Late 18th or early 19th century Danish Bornholm Tall Case Floor Clock

What a stunning piece of workmanship!! Bornholm is an island off the coast of Sweden where this type of clock was made. These unique clocks were individually made by the local farmers during the harsh winters when it was impossible to tend the land. In spring they would take them to town and sell them to raise money for seeds and other needs. Since they are all hand made, they vary in the intricacy of the work. This one is truly a piece of art!! It measures 83 ½" high, and 24" wide at the bottom. It is 9" deep at the moulding where it is the deepest. I believe that the paint is original and it is in good condition. I had it cleaned & oiled and it runs well. It is an 8 day and strikes on the hour.
