Rare and Spectacular Mid 196h Century Wedgwood Cheese Dish
It is done in a Jasperware Wedgwood style with a flat blue ground with raised white motifs, with no maker's markings. It has a high cloche-like lid with a circular rope-patterned finial surrounded by air holes, and the lid body has raised white fern and other foliage entwined around it and the finial. The underside of the lid is completely glazed. The part-glazed plate or base has an outer rim of matching blue and white decorations, resembling swords of flax with their flower stalks. The only mark is a small incised "v" in the bottom of the plate.
It is in wonderful condition with only some minor discoloration on the inside of the underplate. It measures 12 5/8" in diameter, and 9" high.
