Adorable Antique Wax Baby Baptismal Gift. I initially thought that this was the Christ Child even though it was sold as a Baptismal present. When I opened up the little gold envelope, I realized that it was indeed a Baptismal gift. Inside the envelope is a German Baptismal note. It states that Clarence Louis Elmer was born on January 4th, 1909 and was baptized on February 14th, 1909. This little gem was purchased near Waterloo which has a strong German background. (It was originally called Berlin). The box has a highly embossed Raphael die cut angel scrap that is surrounded by a gold border on the top. Inside the box is a wax baby with a pink ribbon in wax across its lap. The baby is lying in a pouffy pink net. This is surrounded by more pink net that has silver dresden trim (that has turned dark) with age. There are two tiny, dark silver dresden stars on either side of the baby. The baby and netting is all on top of a dresden envelope that is highly embossed with gold on all sides. Inside the envelope is the German birth certificate. A real antique gem. Very rare and desirable. EXCELLENT condition. The baby has some discoloration on it, but this does not detract. The outer box is torn down the side , but still is intact. The outer box is 4-3/4" x 3" and the envelope inside is 4" x 2-1/2". We do ship Internationally. Please email for a quote.
