Vintage Art Deco Deep Red Swirled Early Plastic Celluloid Buckle

Very interesting and very much Art Deco in design, this arrow shaped buckle also has a carved design on the end. Although it may be Bakelite, I did not get a positive response using the Simichrome test so think the buckle may be another form of early plastic such as celluloid. It has a very interesting mottled or swirled look to the color, which is a deep red or burgundy. Buckle is just over 1 1/2 inches long and 1 1/8" across at the widest point, with a 5/8" opening for a narrow belt and a hook for the buckle. ( 3.8 cm, 3 cm, 1.8 cm) Very good overall condition with light wear commensurate with its age.
