Art Deco Jose Anton Sterling Silver Bracelet C 1930’s – 1940’s

Big, bold and strikingly beautiful, sterling silver bracelet was masterfully crafted by Jose Anton.

Bracelet is sterling silver, but my camera is picking up reflections that look like copper. There is no copper coloring whatsoever – only glorious silver and some black oxidation. Also, the darkening behind the batons does not really show when worn. This is an absolutely stunning bracelet.

The design is unique and is a great Art Deco piece as well. Extraordinary dimensional artistic design features baton cross overs. Graduating demi sphere accents are found on the clasp area and the hinge area. This piece is a timeless beauty, extremely well crafted by a superior artisan. Phenomenal, out of the ordinary bracelet to be sure.

The gentle Repousse swirls have deep recesses which are oxidized giving the bracelet some extra depth and dimension. There is also some oxidation behind the batons. Silver has a wonderful warm patina.

Hinged bracelet has an old pin clasp. The pin is attached to the bracelet with a sterling chain.

You close the bracelet and insert the pin into the tube or barrel like openings to secure the clasp.

Pin fits snugly and securely.

Condition is superior vintage. I can only find 2 smooth slight dings or indentations near the tip of one baton. Almost perfect. For its age, it's in marvelous condition.

Measures 6-3/4" inside circumference when closed. This will fit a small wrist. My wrist is 6-1/2" and I can close it, but it is too tight and snug to be worn comfortably. Inside diameter is 2-1/4". The width is 1-1/4".

Bracelet has a hefty gram weight of 56.5 grams and a pre eagle date – before 1947. It is marked Anton Sterling Mexico.

Jose Anton can be found in "The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks" by Bille Hougart (2006 edition) page 2. Although not marked TAXCO, Mr. Hougart states that Jose Anton was a Taxco artist.
