Vintage R.M.S. Samaria Souvenir Cigarette Case
This is a wonderful cigarette box in clear plastic with an image on the top cover of the RMS Samaria and gold colored metal mounts. The RMS Samaria was launched by Cunard in 1920 and was the largest ship built on the Mersey up to that time. Her maiden voyage, on 19 April 1922, was from Liverpool to Boston and she was used extensively for round the world cruising until she was converted into a troopship in 1939. Samaria was returned to Cunard in 1950 and used for cruises until sold for scrap in 1956.
The cigarette case was Made In England, measures 3 5/8" by 3" and is in excellent condition with some discoloration of the gilding (see photos) and minor surface marks that are only noticeable on close inspection and do not detract.
