This is a hard plastic super clean strung 8" minty Nancy Ann Muffie Doll dating to 1954 with a side part flip gorgeous Blonde wig. She is wearing her original Muffie Favorite Fashions Purple Stripe Dress #601-2 which I believe may have been sold as a boxed outfit. She is a straight leg strung doll with stringing probably not as tight as the day she was sold, but not really loose either. Her arms do not hold a pose and she can stand on her own. She has a perfect pale blonde/platinum side part flip very soft wig. She has painted eyebrows and painted upper lashes, molded lash sleep eyes, cherry red mouth, and blush to her cheeks. Muffie is not marked to her back. She is wearing her original lace trimmed pink taffeta panties white shoes and socks, and original very crisp and clean purple and white striped cotton dress with cap sleeves made of lace. The waffle cloth white hat has some age yellowing or foxing all around the sides possibly from having paper stored in the hat to block it. The box is in very good condition (not marked anywhere) with no corner breaks but overall age foxing/ spotting to the cardboard here and there. Ben or Bev (in pencil) is written in one corner. Sooo adorable!
Additionally~~~~When I was doing my research for the description, I was wondering about her eyes. Strung Muffie dolls had painted lashes not molded lashes. Technically, in the reference books, the strung Muffie doll had painted lashes. Three thoughts came to mind- someone replaced the head, someone replaced the eyes, and she is a transitional doll made that way by the company using leftover parts. I don't believe someone replaced the head because the head is in such good condition why take it from another doll as the rest of the body from the other doll would most likely be in pretty good shape. Why replace eyes- what could have possibly happened to the other eyes as they just sit there. And lastly I felt that the doll is a transitional to use up parts at the factory. I guess that is probably the best plausible answer but I cannot say for sure as I was not there and I am not the original owner. And this Muffie is not marked either as they can be found unmarked.
