Antique Sterling Silver Heart Photograph Frame - Art Nouveau & Cherubs by William Comyns - 1901

A magnificent photograph frame dating to the late Victorian era, and by one of London's most accomplished silversmiths of the day, William Comyns.

The pierced or reticulated sterling silver creates a heart shaped aperture which is glazed to protect your cherished picture, with a large vacant cartouche to the top.

The silver has a stylized Art Nouveau feel, with a plethora of flowers and foliage. All four corners incorporate a different Cherub or Putti figure, about as charming as they come.

The bottom right hand corner is where the full English hallmark for London 1901 together with the silversmith's initials W.C.

A really quite magnificent frame in excellent condition and about as romantic as they get. The full frame measures 5 1/4" wide x 7 3/4" tall (max). The heart shaped aperture measures 3 1/4" at widest x 4 1/2" at tallest.
