Fabulous Antique English Oak & Silver Plated Tea Caddy by Henry Bourne - Reg. Diamond For 1879

A wonderful and rare figural tea caddy in the form of a Trunk, made from solid English Oak and standing on four Oak ball feet.

The trunk is beautifully fitted with quality silver plated fittings to resemble the straps and handles that would be found on the trunk, with some fine detailed engraving to emulate the stitching of the leather.

The piece is beautifully marked with two English design registration diamonds dating to August 26th, 1879. The underside also bears the silversmith's initials for Henry Bourne of Birmingham.

The interior reveals the original double compartment metal tea cannister, which is removable.

This gem comes complete with a working tasselled key .. a superb box in excellent condition; 9 1/4" wide including handles x 5" x 6 3/4" tall to top of handle.
