Antique English Brass Bound Rosewood Jewelry Box c.1850
Made from exotic (and expensive)Rosewood, the box is bound with brass edging, a beautiful contrast to warm wood. The lid is inset with a shield shaped cartouche with a banner below; there is a matching escutcheon to the front housing the working tasseled key.
The inside of the box has been re-lined in a hand-marbled paper, creating a fresh clean finish to store whatever it is you wish, from larger pieces of Jewelry to hairbrushes, bottles, papers or photographs. There is a push button to the back which once pressed releases the sprung drawer below revealing a fully fitted jewelry drawer with a top full-width ring section to accommodate several rings.
Excellent condition, measuring 12" x 9" x 7 1/2".
