Rare Antique Figural Cribbage Board / Card Box - Padlock - Reg. 1884
The box is made from solid English Oak with fittings made from silverplate, (silver on brass). The escutcheon or key hole is what opens the box, there is a push button which releases the drawer, opened by the arched lock at the top, a firm push is need to re-lock the drawer, you will hear a click when it shuts closed.
This key hole or escutcheon is lucky enough to have an English registration diamond for the year 1884, allowing us to date it fairly accurately.
There are four little brass pegs held inside and a new pack of playing cards completes the offering.
Excellent condition, measuring 8 3/4" tall x 6" wide x 1 7/8" thick.
