Top Notch & Rare - English George III Tortoise Shell, Mother of Pearl & Ivory Tea Caddy c.1815

A quite fabulous and highly decorative antique tea caddy, the quality as good as the highly decorative appeal.

Dating to the early nineteenth century, Georgian in era, this eight-sided caddy has the most beautifully decorated panels created from Tortoiseshell and Mother of Pearl tiles set in a harlequin design.

The top & bottom are trimmed in Ivory and the panels framed in both Ivory and silver stringing.

The lid opens to reveal a shell lid, inlaid with silver stringing and a turned Ivory knob, the slips are also trimmed in Ivory. The interior of the lid retains it's original Burgundy coloured velvet.

Superb in every way, the caddy measures 4" wide x 3" deep x 4" tall. Complete with a working tasseled key.
