Rare Antique English Silver Plated Hot Water Heated Double Sauce Tureen With Reg. No. For 1884
I have never come across one of these fabulous double sauce tureens before; the interior double insert being surrounded by hot water to keep the sauces warm. There is a spout at the front where water could have been put in or discarded.

The interior of the two sauce compartments are lavishly gilded and my silversmith found two perfectly complimentary ladles to complete the offering.
The underside bears the English design registration number 4232, which allows us to date it accurately to 1884.
A grand and unusual piece in superb condition (age wear to the interior from hot water but the insert in splendid condition).
A rim measurement of 9" x 6 1/2", 11" handle to handle, 9" tall to top of handle.
